How The Leverage Wire fixes mistakes: what we correct, how quickly, and how to report an error in a published story.
We would rather be corrected than be wrong in public. Every report of an error reaches an editor directly and is assessed against the original sources.
A factual error is fixed in the story and marked with a dated correction note explaining what was wrong and what it now says. A change of wording that does not alter meaning is made silently.
If a story is wrong in a way that cannot be fixed by a correction, we withdraw it and publish an explanation in its place.
We aim to respond to every correction report within one working day.
